The coins which are mentioned in the Bible

There are no Old Testament references to coins, although many rulers and events associated with coinage are mentioned. The New Testament refers to three specific coins: the denarius, the mite or lepton, and the shekel.

Shekel of Tyre

The "tribute penny" is considered to be a denarius of Tiberius, the Roman emperor of the time. The "widow's mite" is the smallest bronze coin in circulation, the lepton. The shekel, for the Temple tax, is considered to be a contemporary coin of Tyre.
